I’m beginning to love the concept of “Augmented Reality” more and more, and seeing this video, I think you’ll know why:

G1 and the Augmented Reality


Morten is playing around with the Googlephone aka. HTC T-Mobile G1 with Wikitude installed (I read about the application on Claus Dahl’s blog – a former ZYB-employee as well).

The application is built on three pillars:

So it will look somewhat like the picture you see on the left (ideally, at least) – while somewhat “previewing” before taking a picture, you now see information about what is being showed on the screen. It’s an “enhanced reality”, and obviously it will be exploited by the marketers within a few years, but for now it’s innocent and really cool.

During the weekend I will test the G1 a bit more and write a longer review once I’ve exploited the full capabilities of the phone.
